Tampa Bay's traffic is a frequent buyer concern, but a wave of infrastructure investment is quietly improving the picture. Several projects that matter for commute times - and for home values along their corridors - are moving forward.
What's in motion
The Veterans Expressway and I-275 express-lane programs continue to expand, easing the northwest Hillsborough and north Pinellas commute. The Howard Frankland's new parallel bridge is improving the cross-bay drive between Tampa and St. Pete. And intersection rebuilds across Brandon and Riverview are smoothing the suburban commute.
Why this matters for home values
Reduced commute friction is one of the most reliable home-value drivers in a metro. Neighborhoods that were once "too far out" become viable as the drive shrinks - that's exactly what happened with Wesley Chapel and continues with Pasco County as the Veterans project wraps up.
What I'd watch
If you're buying for value ahead of growth, the corridors where these projects are finishing offer the cleanest upside - you're buying after the inconvenience but before the appreciation fully lands.
Tell me your commute destination and I'll point you to the corridors that just got faster.
